On July 27, 2005 at 1045 UTC, two Piper PA-28 aircraft (registration: D-EKIN and D-EHER) took off from Szczecin-Dąbie (EPSD). They intended to fly to Gdańsk-Rębiechowo (EPGD), with a scheduled stopover at Zegrze Pomorskie (EPKO). Due to deteriorating weather conditions, the pilots turned back to the military aerodrome in Świdwin (EPSN), over which they had flown earlier that day, and requested landing permission. Since the EPSN aerodrome was closed that day, the air traffic service denied landing and suggested to continue the flight to the open military aerodrome in Mirosławiec (EPMI). Next, the pilot of D-EHER reported low fuel reserve, and – considering the situation – landing permission at the Świdwin military aerodrome (EPSN) was given to D-EHER and D-EKIN by the ATS EPSN.
